Body-Focused Repetitious Behaviors
Compulsive skin-picking, hair-pulling, nail biting, and other body based behaviors fall under an umbrella term known as “body-focused repetitious behaviors,” or BFRB’s. As someone who has lived many years with a BFRB, I love to work with clients who are looking to reduce the shame, loneliness, and impact of their picking, pulling, or biting. You do not have to battle this alone.
For clients with BFRB’s, I utilize a program called ComB, which stands for “Comprehensive Behavioral Treatment.” The ComB program utilizes a combination of many tools, including habit replacement training (HRT), mindfulness, increasing awareness, identifying triggers, and applying new tools to those triggers. Treatment is personalized for each client.
